EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO SCIENCE AND ART IN HEALTH EXHIBITS INEGI TECHNOLOGIES
The exhibition "À volta do ato médico" ("Around the Medical Act"), which includes technologies developed by INEGI, is showing at the Rectory of the University of Porto until May 9.
Among the pieces on display is a 3D printed femur bone with color indication of stress calculations, and a textured hip prosthesis to better attach titanium to bone, both created by INEGI, and hip prostheses, acetabular components, and a human femur with a prosthesis and installation for in vitro measurement by extensometry of the deformations in the bone, developed in collaboration with LABIOMEP.
The inauguration of the exhibition marked the beginning of the homage to Paulo Cunha e Silva, University of Portos "Eminent Figure 2019". The exhibition mixes science, innovation and art, and showcasing pieces related to the clinical universe, in the same space where there are quotes from the former councilman of the City Hall of Porto.
These pieces are only a small sample of the work that INEGI has been developing for the health sector. The development of medical equipment and devices, biomechanical simulation, image processing, mechanical characterization of biological tissues and biomaterials, and instrumentation and monitoring are the main capabilities that the Institute has available to this sector.
